First times...

Have you ever wondered about someone's first time? Being published, that is. There are so many firsts on the journey to becoming an author, but being published is THE goal those aspiring strive for, obsess over and dream about. It's the milestone that keeps us going in the face of rejection, frustration and yeah, sometimes despair. Have you ever wanted to sit down with a published author and just pick their brains over what they did, how they did it, what worked and what didn't and ask for advice? I do, all the time, but I don't know that many published authors. When I first started thinking about adding something useful to my blog, it just seemed natural to include a feature that would provide me access to all those things I always wanted to know. As I thought about it, I decided I wanted it to be about authors who were 'newly published' so they could provide comments and insights on a business and market that is NOW, because the climate for publishing is changing. I wanted to tap into information, thoughts, insights and feelings that were current and fresh. I also wanted to create something that wasn't just useful to me, but would have value to others, at least I hoped so.

My new feature was born! Starting April 12, I will begin a monthly feature called Just Published where I will ask a newly published author everything I ever wanted to know about how they did it and yeah, hope something might rub off on me! My first author is Cari Quinn. Cari published her first book with The Wild Rose Press at the end of last year. Cari was the very first person who ever commented on my blog, so it seemed fitting she kick off my new feature. So, join me next Monday where I drill down with Cari on her journey to publication and what it was really like to be published for the first time!
